The national charity YGAM has partnered with the local Eyes and Ears programme to provide a unique opportunity for teachers to attend two workshops providing access to a host of teaching resources as well as the chance to obtain certification.
This partnership comprises of East Cambridgeshire’s Community Safety Partnership, Cambridgeshire Police Children and Young People’s Team as well as Cambridge United Community Trust.
The Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust (YGAM) is a national charity with a social purpose to inform, educate, safeguard and build digital resilience amongst young and vulnerable people; helping them to make informed decisions and understand the consequences around gambling and gaming.
This is achieved through evidence-led, evaluated and assured education programmes and resources for anyone that works with or cares for young and vulnerable people, including teachers, youth workers, community volunteers and mental health specialists.
Whilst the Education programme is City & Guilds assured, the resources produced by YGAM won the Children and Young People Now PSHE Award 2020.
To support primary schools in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough equip their pupils with an awareness of gaming/gambling related harm, YGAM is providing two free workshops on:
Thursday 2nd December 2021 (15:45 – 17:15)
and Thursday 9th December 2021 (15:45 – 17:15)
(In order to access the bank of teaching resources which cover KS1 and KS2 and to obtain the City and Guilds certification, both workshops will need to be attended.)
Learning outcomes: attendees will
- understand why children and young people might game/gamble
- understand what is meant by gaming/gambling related harm
- recognise the signs of gaming/gambling related harm
- know where to find further support
- have increased confidence when talking to children and young people about gaming and gambling
