More Than Sport: Your Role in Tackling Adverse Childhood Experiences

FREE TRAINING

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are traumatic experiences occurring during childhood that cause repeated suffering. They can cause direct harm (such as abuse) or indirect harm through living in an often-hostile environment (such as growing up in a house with domestic violence). Research has shown that regular participation in sport can have a significant impact on mental health and self-esteem.

The training is presented by Community Engagement Lead for the ACE Support Hub for Wales, Laura Tranter and Clinical Psychologist for Gwent Community Psychology Debbie Mills. It aims to explore the vital role of the coach in helping children and young people to thrive in the face of adversity and the power of the relationships that are built.

More Than Sport: Your Role in Tackling Aces is taking place on Friday 22nd Jan 2021, 12pm – 1pm
