The aim of the Healthy Schools Accreditation is to encourage schools to review the initiatives in place and the excellent work being carried out to improve the health, wellbeing and resilience of the whole school community.
The Healthy Schools Accreditation looks at the following areas:

- Policy Review – relating to Safety, Relationships, Sex and Health Education

- Healthy Eating
- Mental Health and Wellbeing

Your Journey
Step One:
Fill out our EOI Form
Complete the expression of interest form and our team will respond to you within 48 hours.
Step Two:
Meet With Us and Complete Your Health Audit
We will work with you to find time for an introductory meeting (maximum 1 hour), where we will discuss your school’s current strengths and areas for development to gain Accreditation status.
Step Three:
Agree Priorities and Action Plan
Together we agree your school’s health and wellbeing priorities, setting short term goals and focusing on what your school would like to achieve.
Step Four:
Review Progress
After around 3-6 months, we will meet again to look at your progress and evidence.
- Ready for accreditation? Complete the review tool and prepare for verification
- Need more time? We agree next steps and offer further support
Step Five:
Portfolio Review
Our Service Lead will work with your local commissioner to assess your accreditation portfolio and verify your submission.
Step Six:
Confirmation Meeting
Our Service Lead will meet with your school representative to confirm your accreditation and hear more about your work and future.
Step Seven:
Celebrate Success and Join our Accredited Community
Once successful, your school receives an accreditation plaque and certificate to display in the school with pride. Accredited schools are invited to our annual recognition event to share best practice and celebrate their achievements together.
How much time are schools expected to commit to the accreditation process?
There is no set time – schools can determine their own time commitment, with the knowledge that the Healthy Schools team will support them as they progress. It is recommended that a school should aim to achieve the award within 12 months or an academic year.
Is there a charge to take part?
No – the Healthy Schools Award is fully funded by Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council.
How long is the Healthy Schools status valid for?
Healthy Schools Status is valid for 3 years from the date of verification.
