Healthy Schools Support

Our Healthy Schools team are here to help your child / young person with FREE smoking and vaping support, sexual health offering advice, free protection and STI testing .

PSHE

The PSHE (Personal development, social skills, Health and Economic education) section can support you help your child / young person learn more about the risks around Drugs, Alcohol, how to maintain good Oral Health, personal Hygiene and about Puberty.

Growing up can be overwhelming for a child / young person as they learn about relationships (primary) or relationships (secondary). LGTBQ+ and money management. 

Mental Health & Well-being

We can assist you in supporting your child / young person learn about the importance of taking care of their mental wellbeing as they develop. Here you will learn more about supporting with selective mutism, and PEDS eating disorders. There is guidance and support with topics such as Bullying, Transition and Change, Online Stress, Exam Stress, Bereavement, Sleep and Healthy Minds. Keeping Safe

The Keeping Safe section provides guidance to help children and young people stay safe both online and offline. Parents and carers may find the resources on Online Safety, Safeguarding and Healthy Relationships particularly useful for starting conversations about personal safety, boundaries and knowing where to get help. We cover Domestic Abuse, safety in Gambling and Gaming, and Crime and Law. You also will find NSPCC Resources For Parents and Carers here. You can access the Safety Zone resource hub and Safety Zone Resource Directory (KS1-5), which provide engaging educational resources to help children and young people recognise risks, make safer choices, and know where to seek help.

Resilience

Building resilience helps children and young people cope with challenges, setbacks and change. Our Resilience Toolkit is designed to demonstrate the characteristics of a resilient child, and includes a quiz to assess their resilience, and offers practical activities and key ideas on developing confidence, managing emotions, improving self-esteem and building the skills needed to navigate everyday life and future challenges.

Physical Activity

Regular physical activity plays an important role in both physical and mental wellbeing. Explore our resources on the Daily Mile, Walking, Cycling, and Swimming to find simple ways to help your child build activity into their everyday routine. For families looking to make healthier lifestyle changes together, our Healthy Families Nutrition and Physical Activity resources provide practical advice and support.

Healthy Eating

Healthy eating supports children’s growth, development, learning and wellbeing. Our Healthy Eating section provides signposting to the free Healthy You lifestyle service supporting children, young people and their families: Healthy You Cambridgeshire and Healthy You Peterborough. There is signposting for half-term activities across the counties to support your family to continue eating healthily during the half-term breaks: Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme: Provider and Family Resources.

National Child Measurement Programme

The National Child Measurement Programme provides information for parents and carers about children’s growth and development. The page explains why measurements are taken in schools, how the information is used, and where families can access support and advice if they have concerns about their child’s health and wellbeing.
