Congratulations to Eastfield Infant and Nursery School who have been confirmed as a Healthy Schools Ambassador School following a successful 12 month review meeting.
Having achieved the Healthy Schools Award in December 2024, the school has continued to build on its work rather than standing still. Over the past year, Eastfield has deepened its approach to health and wellbeing, embedding practice across leadership, staff development and daily school life. Health and wellbeing are clearly understood as foundational to learning, behaviour and positive relationships.
A key area of development has been the school’s growing focus on relational and trauma-informed practice. Alongside whole-school approaches, Eastfield has introduced targeted wellbeing provision that responds directly to identified need. These sessions provide opportunities for mindfulness, emotional literacy and empathy, reinforced through interaction with the school dog.
The school has also shown increasing confidence in working with families and the wider community. Leaders and staff have recognised rising levels of parental need and have adapted their approaches to engagement, including supporting families where English is not their first language. Strong partnerships with external services, including EIFA, provide additional layers of support for children and families.
Looking ahead, Eastfield plans to continue reflecting on its learning and sharing this with others as part of its Ambassador role. The school has identified areas it would feel confident sharing more widely, including trauma informed and relational practice, targeted wellbeing provision and inclusive approaches to family engagement.
Eastfield Infant and Nursery School’s progression to Ambassador status reflects sustained commitment, thoughtful development and a willingness to learn and share practice. We look forward to working with Eastfield as part of our growing network of Healthy Schools Ambassadors.
