Catch Your Breath is our smoking and vaping education and prevention programme for young people across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. It is fully funded by Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council, and delivered by the Healthy Schools team.
Our work includes:
- Primary Prevention Workshops – interactive sessions for students, years 5 and 6, exploring the risks associated with smoking and vaping. Students will learn about nicotine addiction, peer pressure and the effects of smoking and vaping on the body, whilst developing the confidence to make positive choices.
- Secondary Prevention Programme – a “Risks of Vaping” presentation with teacher guidance, discussion questions and follow up activities to help embed learning. This gives students the opportunity to refer themselves to our behaviour change sessions.
- Small Group Behaviour Change Sessions – targeted sessions for students who are already smoking or vaping, helping them explore addiction, reflect on their choices and develop strategies to quit.
- 1:1 or Small Group Support – up to 12 weeks of individual or group support for young people who want help to stop smoking or vaping.
- SEND/ESOL Workshops – practical, activity based learning to support understanding of vaping and smoking risks for learners with additional needs or lower English proficiency.
Contact the Catch Your Breath team and find out how we can support your setting today.
