Healthy Schools Support

Our Healthy Schools team provides a range of free services to support your school/community organisation in improving health and wellbeing outcomes for your children and young people. This can include Smoking and Vaping Workshops, Young and Free Sexual Health Services, the Healthy Schools Accreditation Programme, and access to our termly Newsletter. Whether you are looking to embed a whole-school approach or address a specific health need, our team can help – please contact us.

PSHE

Our PSHE resources support a Whole School Approach to deliver high-quality, evidence-based education. Explore guidance, local data, curriculum content and teaching resources covering Drugs, Alcohol, Oral Health, Hygiene, Puberty, Relationships Education (Primary), Relationships and Sex Education (Secondary), LGBTQ+ Inclusion, Money Management, and Mental Health & Wellbeing. Each topic includes information on local and national issues, what is known to work, key actions for schools, and curriculum guidance.

Mental Health & Wellbeing

A Whole School Approach is a key part to supporting a child’s/young person’s mental and emotional wellbeing. This section provides local data, evidence-informed practice, curriculum guidance, and information on available support services. Our Local Mental Health Toolkit provides information and guidance to help you implement your Whole School Approach in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The Blueprint For Mental Health Provision is a 60 minute reflective practice for educational professionals.

Supporting Young People With Situational (Selective) Mutism; Anti-Bullying; Transition and Change; Online Stress; Exam Stress; Bereavement; Sleep; Healthy Minds; Mind Your Head Programme.

You will be able to signpost to the free Kooth app for Safe and Anonymous Mental Health Support for your children, young people and their families.

Keeping Safe

The Keeping Safe section provides resources and guidance to support safeguarding, risk reduction, and the safety of children and young people both in and beyond school. Schools can access information on developing a Whole School Approach to safety and prevention, alongside topic-specific guidance on First Aid, Crime and Law, Domestic Abuse, Gambling and Gaming, and Online Safety.

For safeguarding professionals, there are dedicated resources covering Safeguarding, Supporting Young People Who Self-Harm, and trusted external programmes such as NSPCC – Programmes and Resources for Schools, The Children’s Society, and Community Eyes and Ears. Schools can also access the Safety Zone resource hub and Safety Zone Resource Directory (KS1-5), which provide engaging educational resources to help children and young people recognise risks, make safer choices, and know where to seek help.

Resilience

Our Resilience resources help schools support children and young people to build confidence, manage emotions, and develop the skills needed to cope with challenges. The Resilience Toolkit includes a resilience assessment and practical activities. The Firebreak One Day and Firebreak Five Day courses offer free interactive resilience programmes delivered by Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue. Schools can explore Climate Education resources to help pupils understand sustainability, environmental responsibility, and the role they can play in creating positive change.

Physical Activity

The help your children and young people achieve their 60+ minutes minimum recommended physical activity per week access resources looking into: The Whole School Approach; The Daily Mile™ County Recognition Scheme; Walking; Cycling; Swimming, and wider Physical Activity initiatives, such as School Games Programme, Healthy Families – Nutrition and Physical Activity Directory, Active Classrooms with Tanzii TV, Active Lives Sport England.

Healthy Eating

Our Healthy Eating resource section will support your school/community organisation to promote the benefits of healthy food choices and leading an active lifestyle for children and young people. Explore how you can access free Heathy You services, in-house support from our partners PECT and PEDS helping children learn about nutrition and be body image positive. We have helpful signposting to partner programmes, including the ProVeg UK – School Plates Programme and Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme.
