Fullscope is a consortium of voluntary sector organisations in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, united by a vision of positive mental health for all. Through collaboration with cross-sector partners, they have developed the following free resources to support anyone working with children and young people and those who care for them:
CareFull Co-Design Principles
These principles guide how Fullscope approaches involving children, young people and their families in co-designing services to support them. They are placed as equals in the process and ‘care’ is at the heart of the approach. The principles are shared here with examples of how they are applied in practice.
What matters to us: Gathering stories and ideas with children about their own health and wellbeing
This approach to listening to a whole school community was tested through a project called Mapping Soham Stories, commissioned by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough’s NHS team for East Cambs as part of the commitment for local services to be more holistic and integrated. The guide, created with support from Cambridgeshire County Council’s PHSE team, offers fun and creative activities together with a reflective framework to help schools to listen to and share vital information from the young people they work with. Designed primarily for primary schools but relevant to wider contexts working with children and young people.
Artscaping: A guide to establishing arts-in-nature opportunities in your school
This guide for schools and groups was written with colleagues from the UCL Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Education and Anglia Ruskin University and offers an introduction to the practice of Artscaping, the arts-in-nature practice of Fullscope partner Cambridge Curiosity and Imagination. Access the guide and read more about Artscaping here.
Help You, Help Them
Our Voices, the young people’s co-design group working with Fullscope, were commissioned by Public Health to develop this online toolkit by young people, for young people. This dedicated website provides peer support and advice for young people helping their friends with wellbeing worries.
Ask me how I am
Fullscope worked with a small group young people in secondary schools with lived experience of self-harm to understand self-harm from their perspective and to co-develop a response for the system. A short film was the result, created from many hours of conversations with the young people, with images co-designed and created with them
to accompany their words, and a soundscape that included the real sounds of their school day. The film forms the basis of training workshops for professionals which were themselves co-designed with teachers, GPs, mental health practitioners and parents and carers. The workshop has now been delivered to over 500 professionals across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, and the film has been nominated for NHS and film industry awards. Contact Fullscope to discuss training opportunities or read more about the work here.
