As the coronavirus crisis continues, children are spending more time indoors and in front of screens. Connecting to nature can restore a sense of wellbeing so PECT has launched a range of resources to enhance children’s understanding of the world around them and to enable them to discover more about the environment.
The new Nature’s School resources provide a wealth of ideas for home learning opportunities as they are all about bringing families together to enjoy, appreciate and protect their time together. Click here to find out more: http://www.pect.org.uk/projects/natures-school/
Additionally PECT has produced some healthy eating materials specifically targeted to get children at home engaged in some fun and engaging food activities.
The link between obesity and the increased risk of a number of diseases and the recent suggestion that obesity may make people more ill with Covid-19 brings into focus the importance of food education and the crucial role schools can play in teaching young people about nutrition and healthy food choices, developing their cooking skills and providing opportunities to grow fresh food.
