Young & Free - Sexual Health Promotion and Prevention Service

YOUNG AND FREE is our fully funded Sexual Health Promotion and Prevention Service for young people across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The service is funded by Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council and delivered by the Healthy Schools team.

What our services can offer

Information and resources

Free, high quality, accurate and age-appropriate safe sex information and resources
Sexual health messages that are tailored to the needs and lifestyles of young people, which will enable them to make informed decisions about their behaviour(s). In particular sexual health information and advice for LGBTQ+ young people
Safer sex advice for young people with a history of unplanned pregnancies and repeat users of emergency hormonal contraception
Raising awareness of risk factors for sexually transmitted infections

Secondary Schools Sexual Education Sessions and Assemblies

We can provide tailor made sessions to support sexual health behaviours discussions (in Schools / Colleges) – targeted group work which complements the core PSHE RSE curriculum.

Coordination of the Condom Distribution Service

We coordinate a condom distribution scheme (known as the C-Card) across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire to increase accessibility of free condoms and promote consistent condom use.

We support as many health resource sites to become C-Card providers as we can. We provide FREE training to partners and give condoms to hand out.

Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing for Young People

We promote awareness and access of routine chlamydia and gonorrhoea screening and signposting to treatment for young people (13-24 year olds).
